actually that isnt true, somewhere in Nintendo's Official site, i lost the link to the page, but it states no matter, even if u do have the original copy of the game, it is still illegal to own a rom/iso of that game
Actually that's 100% BS. Legally you can make a backup of your own copy of the game. But you cannot download a backup, regardless of whether you own it. Even making your own backup it is only legal for your own personal use. How many people do you know that know how to rip a NES/SNES cartridge? I don't know anyone because it requires a Dev console which are illegal to buy.Zitat:

yes but the cops aint gonna raid you psp/pc to check if you have any games plus you can say you backed it up along time ago...
Yes but if you cant provide proof that you backed it up yourself they have the right to sieze your PSP. And if you do provide proof that you backed it up yourself (ie a Dev console) they will sieze that unless you can proof that you are licensed to own it by the manufacturer (Nintendo, Sega, etc). Of course this only refers to cartridge based media, Optical media can be backed up a lot easier. Mostly with a DVD drive or your PSP for making UMD backups.Zitat:

All of this is highly unlikely as the police/sony dont go after the individual pirates. They go for the distributors, if they cant get the distributors (eg p2p programs) then they go for the sites hosting the programs/trackers.
and they have no proof that i didn't tbh :p
but they aint gonna raid it and if i could only have ps1 back ups could just hide the rest in a folder maze :p then have a pwed rar etc
They wouldn't need proof tho. The way law works is that you are guilty until proven innocent. But they wont raid your PSP anyway. They most likely wouldn't know where to start. lolZitat:

lol
erm how do i turn this on?
the erm..erm... battery is dead..yeah...
and plus this is goign slightly off topic :p
Untrue - Copying SNES and Genesis games (I'm assuming the same for NES and other systems) only required a commercially available add-on (about as obscure as a modchip for the xbox, ie. not that hard to obtain) that would dump the rom to floppy disc - yeah, it's that old. There was a time that people would build these things themselves though. I remember going to my friends house and seeing his Genesis with this wierd contraption attached to it. He inserted a floppy disc and voila, Sonic started playing.Zitat:

Nevertheless, thanks goes to twelve for explaining this whole mess to begin with!
Really, though, If you want to talk about ISOs or some other "grey area" topic, just go to another board and respect QJ's wishes.
**** your right. I had forgotten about those. I've seen one before at a car boot sale.Zitat:

Not so sure about Sonic on a SNES tho. lol
They're a bit expensive now tho:
http://www.chronicgames.net/shop/sup...item-2759.aspx
so that means we can have them :p
no, still illegal lol
i mean if we own original game we can say we backed them up ourselves
u can say you backed them up ya, but depending who u encounter, if u encounter a dev company such as nintendo, u should know u'll have the same fate coming as Lik sang did
Isn't it the other way around? Look at OJ Simpson. He was not proved innocent, he was just not proved guilty. And this thread is going way off topic. You may lock if you wish, I just want an answer to this question?Zitat:

In "law" it's innocent until proven guilty, but that's not always true. Take California when Tookie was convicted...
It most cases, it is guilty until proven innocent despite what they say.
Way off topic anyways.
its the fuking internet....who gives a **** about legal matters..... i dont no why people are so scared, *****s.
heely, you do realize it's very simple for large companies to track you right? But you are right, who gives a ****, you'll probably just get a fine, or just a warning to delete the content...
You, sir, are an idiot. How do you think Napster got shut down?Zitat:

And the end-user agreement of some games actually say that it's illegal to back up the contents stored on the media of the game so... game buyers really have no rights to speak up this time. If you back your game up and your game has such agreement, you are basically violating the agreement and the game company has all the rights to sue you for that. So far, I've only seen such agreements coming along with Nintendo DS and Sony PSP games.
you sir are a ****head....large companies can get fuked, like 2 see nintendo walk through my front door.Zitat:
Zitat von Kartoon
heely, I hope you know that made no sence whatsoever and I read it 2x. Nintendo wouldn't walk through your door, you would first have your ISP disconneted, a phone call from them, then a lawsuit in the mail most likely....
1. Nintendo is a company, they can't "walk through your door".Zitat:
Zitat von heely69
2. What's the worst you could have done to them, downloaded a couple ROM's? I'm sure anyone gives two ****'s about you.
3. Big company or not, it depends what you do. INDIVIDUAL people have got fined $100,000+ for file sharing, not big companies.
4. It helps if you know what the **** you're talking about BEFORE you talk.
yo i just go the snippet from the qj page and i forgot about the hyper link from it. so sorry about that. but since sega has been out of the picture for 5 years now does that mean their stuff can be broken. unless sega comes back or w/e right. i would have fixed bthe snippets hyper link sooner but i was at work and i just got home. it was an honest mistake.
These are the type of people that don't deserve the privelege of the internet.Zitat:
