Default RPGs

Does anyone know any rpgs that either take place in modern-ish times or the future? Like non-fantasy rpgs? I know they're kinda rare, but I've been looking for a while and I really want to find one, as the only one I've found is Earthbound. Thanks.

What firmware you usin' because I know a bad-ass sci-fi rpg for 1.5. Other than that, I'd say Phantasy Star series.

Um...Front Mission, and maybe Shadowrun. That's all I can think of. And Phantasy Star. And part of Chrono Trigger is in the future, so you might like that, even though the rest is fantasy.

I'll put forward Terranigma, Chrono Trigger/Cross, Xenogears and Mother/Earthbound 0.

Yeah, I guess it's a fun thing to play if you like being prodded around and told where exactly you need to go next the entire ****ing time. Seriously, FFVII might as well just be a movie where you occasionally press a button or two to get to the next scene - Linear RPGs = not fun and in total defiance of what the genre's actually meant to represent.

Also, the plot is totally ****ing generic, predictable and incoherent beyond belief. Games aren't about storytelling, no matter what you're being force-fed these days - If that were true, we'd see six-year-olds running around on the playground lavishly narrating their games of tag with pointlessly complicated mythologies which don't do a damn thing to the way they're playing.

dude did you read the thread? someone said it already, also he said futurist not fantasy....about FF7 I think is overated yeah but still a good game...chrono cross is hell of a lot better....anyways about earthbound that game is cool yeah it is but another overated game like final fantasy though I have to admit searching for a contact lens in a desert is friking hilarious! I recomend FF6 best final ever in my opinion very futurish.

It HAS been mentioned, and in no way is it a "modern times" or "futuristic" RPG, which is what this thread asks for. No way at all.

UH you officially lost all credibility at life.

DBZ PSP (Shin Budokai you mean?) is 100% a fighting game.
Runescape is the noobs version of a PC game..
Resident Evil is NO WAY IN HELL a RPG.
Sonic? G.T.F.O.
Super Mario...once again, noob.

Try READING the topic.
