It was thundering pretty bad just not too long ago, so I took my digital camera, and the max exposure was 6 seconds, so I kept guessing when to press the button and hoped I would get a good bolt in the pic
well, for one of them i did :D

Awesome shot. I've only ever seen Bolt lightning once in my whole life, of course i've seen pictures tho. Round here we just get sheet lightning (you know where the whole sky flashes).
Yeah it was pretty insane today on the east coast. Wild Storm. But I really didn't get anything good. And That my view is blocked by trees.

Thanks, its actually really easy, just set up a camera on a tripod, and set the exposure for a couple seconds, mine could only go to 6, but im sure you can get it like 30 seconds, so as long as there is a bolt in the 30 seconds the shutters open, its caught

Wow I love lightning, we've betting getting it a little here in the UK for the past week, but I haven't seen any of the patterns, just the flash.

I had a few shots but I cut them out of video so they look like crap. I know it may sound weird but I love thunderstorms and even rainy days sometimes.
Let me see the rips off that video. And it's not odd to like thunder storms. I've got friends that do and I do.

I'm gonna try this with my R827 the next storm we get.
Wow, I was taking video of todays storm, and I managed, amazingly, to capture the lightnings strike to the ground, and then the strike back up to the clouds, screenshots soon
frame by frame starting one frame before strike, notice 1 frame "pause" in between "strikes" (the white frames are the flashes from the lightning to bright to be captured as anything other than white)
Spoiler for Lightning:
The cuts in the middle of two of the frames, are by my guess, interference from the lighting or something

I had some rain today...My cameras crap in low light. So I can't take good lightning pictures.
damn shame we only get sheet here, or i'd be out there in a flash (no pun intended)
