New Supercard software AND firmware updates!
Had to use alternate site since the main site seems to be slammed on all the time.
Firmware version: 1.63
Patcher software version: 2.55
This should update the patcher and firmware to be compatible with all the newest ROMs that have come out (Starfox (J)!).
Remember to backup everything on your Supercard BEFORE applying the latest firmware update, just in case...
UPDATE: Seems the new firmware update is crashing some folks Supercards...my advice would be to wait a few days for a newer update to come out. So far I've seen posts elsewhere from three different people confirming it's crashed their Supercards. If you do try it and it crashes your card try to find the last firmware update on the download site linked to above for one with an .SCU (1.61 I think) suffix and run that, then run the 1.62 .BIN to get it back to 1.62. SO far one user has already tried to go back like that to no avail...keeps crashing at 32% done.
UPDATE #2: I took the plunge and it successfully upgraded my Supercard mini-SD on a Sandisk 2GB mini-SD. All programs/ROMs were left intact. Can confirm that StarFox (J) now plays perfectly and while the new DS Browser will LOAD, it will error out because it cannot find the RAM cart. I'm sure some enterprising group will figure out a way to hack it to use certain flashcarts built-in 32MB of RAM.
UPDATE #3: Digging a little deeper into the reason why some folks are 'bricking' their Supercards and other not, it appears that those with an 'MX' chip can upgrade just fine while those with a 'CB' chip are bricking theirs. Actually, it's not really bricked it's just that particular update file doesn't like the 'CB' chip and as soon as the Supercard folks get a newer, fixed update out they will be fine. Look on the back of the Supercard for either a big 'MX' or 'CB' written on one of the chips to determine if you should try this new update.
UPDATE #4: Supercard has said it fixed the problem with the original 1.63 update and a new version has been released called '1.63b'. Unfortunately, it's in a .BIN format and the 'interrupted' 1.63 update is looking for a .SCU file, so folks with half-bricked 'CB' that have already tried to update are still screwed. However, if you have NOT tried upgrading the firmware on a Supercard with 'CB' chips, then the 1.63b will work just fine for you.
The new patched version download is here.
More on this as it develops.
