Default Would a Wii CFW be possible?

with the release of the homebrew channel and the twilight hack odviously comes with the ability to run installer ect. The PSP s used the exploits to install a whole custom firmware to get rid of the problem of security and such.

With IOS37 coming and people wondering how it will effect the homebrew channel & twilight hack and weither or not it will disable them, isn't the logical thing to create a custom firmware.

I do realize that the wii fw is (probably?) much larger than the psp's and that it would be in no way easy to create. but is there something stopping this from happening or has it just not happened yet?

It took an entire year after the PSP was hacked to have the most basic custom firmware. And that was because 1.5 had minimal security. I give it 18 months before we have a breakthrough like that for the Wii.

Well we already do have custom channels and Wii Ware/VC game security has been cracked and I didn't think that would happen as fast as it did, so I guess you never know. I'm sure it's possible.

they wouldn't impliment such a thing online and even if they did, one of the whole points of a custom firmware is to act like the official firmware equivalent (eg. run everything that firmware could)

but then again, the psp never had an exploit like the wii does now (for downgraders) as far as i remember. Now that we already have the ability to run code then all that is needed is a realy smart person like dark alex to create a custom firmware.

Anyways, we can only hope :)

I can't see why a custom firmware would be useful in this case. We can already play homebrew straight from the menu. Custom firmware is not needed.

because nintendo can patch these in their firmware updates so that we can no longer use the homebrew channel, read the posts above

So you can run backups without a modchip is what I'm thinking.

But you could write a homebrew that runs ISO's in a channel, you wouldn't need to recode some of the firmware just for that.

Fair, but unfortunately I don't think any of the coders want to code an ISO loader

Is that really a bad thing? Not sure we want the system killed off by piracy. Although to be fair, there really aren't many Wii games worth purchasing.

Most of the wii audience is casual gamers, like soccer moms and grammas, do you really think they will know how to hack and pirate games? I'm still against it, but it would not kill the wii just like it didn't kill the psp

reminds me of a Game Trailers video

They were talking about how only Nintendo actually makes games that use the wii controls effectively.

Alright, good point, but that still doesn't mean that we should support piracy...

But I think it did affect the PSP. There were virtually, no games of interest to really anyone for at least a year or so, excluding Daxter and maybe a couple that I have forgotten to mention.

    cfw would be great for.

Custom your Menu Change it all around
    Trainers
    Plugins
    Recovery Mode? incase **** ups?
Skip The intro menu (just play the damn game already)
possibly auto continue the darn Warnings.
Change Background wii menu music and let it play your mp3's

    that sort of stuff.

I not a wii owner but someday I might get one for just the homebrew and nothing else

You do realize you can reorganize your menu, right? Or did you mean more than that by 'change it all around'?
