I installed the homebrew channel and then upgraded to the latest IOS.
this was a mistake.
i'm considering rolling back to the original IOS by using the savemiifrii technique but:
1) will it even work if i try it?
2) what will i lose -AND- if i _could_ lose some of my vc/wiiware is there a way to back everything up and restore it after i upgrade back to a usable IOS?
i was really looking forward to using DVDx and cIOS36 rev7. all the info i've found says a downgrader won't work. HBC is working just fine otherwise.
what i am really after is booting a backup of my GC game. the disk started acting funny after i moved and i've been hunting a way to use a backup since. thats what brought me to where i am now at any rate.
I'm also considering the "format system memory" option.. but i'm not sure how to backup my saves and channels so that they'll be usable after coping them back. a real concern for me is losing the data i can't copy.
seems like its time to pay the waiting game, homebrew edition. i hope a fix comes that will also help the people on 3.4, i didn't even know about 3.4 yet.
found a fix, big thanks to Armii: http://www.iol.ie/~taz/3.3u_Update_F..._____IOS16.zip
the txt file has the full howto, if this doesn't work.. nothing will i'm afraid.
i've installed cios36 rev7 as well.. gonna test it with dvdx first tho.
in the process of all the downgrading, upgrading and reinstalling i got the wiigator and wad manager channels which work fine. i did try a burnt dvd with a backed up game, it failed.. BUT it was a GC game not wii. all my wii games work fine so i havn't had to make a backup. the wii picked up the fact i had a gc game in the drive but it refused to boot, restarting the wii after a green screen.
DVDx works great from Mplayer (dvd edition), hbc, mii and wii shop all work. i didn't lose any saves or miis in the process, but still no GC backup support it seems. 5 out of 6 is not bad.
