I've been disappointed since I first saw IGNs review for Red Steel, when they gave it a 6.0/10. I was really looking forward to the game, and was let down to know that it was just less than average shooter. Then more and more reviews started coming out, all giving them negative reviews. It almost felt like a trend, where all the 'cool' reviewers gave the game a bad score.
Boy I wish I didn't listen to them.
I knew that some people loved it, so I knew I had to try this game sometime. So I decided to rent it. And wow, this game deserves much more than 6.0. I absolutely love this game. Using the Wii remote to aim feels great, and is extremely fun. The game also doesn't really feel slow, like many people have mentioned. I also have no problems when turning around. The bounding box is fine for me. The graphics are also some of the best on the Wii. The Explosions are amazing :) One time I shot a bunch of gas barrels, and there was such a big explosion, I almost got scared. I don't kid.
Basically, this game is fun. Why people hate this game, I don't know. Sure there are a few things that could be improved on, but the GameRankings score is 64.5%. It deserves at least an 80.0%, but I would probably give it a 85.0% to 90.0%
The only things I don't like, is there there is no music in multilayer, there's no option for full screen (real and fake, I think, wide screen is available), there aren't a lot of weapons, and there's no vehicles. But these things are minuscule when compared to how much fun I'm having with this game.
So what about you? Do agree with the press, or do you love this game too?
