As an ex-firm WoW player I can tell you this:
World of Warcraft, when leveling is no-doubtly very fun; even more fun on a PvP server because you have to watch your back while doing things. You get VERY into it when you're leveling up.
However, once that leveling is done and you're 60, with maxed out skills what do you have to do? Get gear. Now, some of this may be interesting, fighting a big boss that takes teamwork to do. But, once you do get that boss down all you do is repeat that same boss over and over until everybody (20-40 people) has that one or two pieces.
You're not going to raid? Just PvP? Okay.
If you're going to go this route, which I did at first for more than 6 months, you'll have some fun times. It's only a grind, you gain NOTHING but 'honor' points which you have to get 600k+ (depending on server) to get one or two pieces of armor or a new weapon.
Sure, it IS fun, getting that flag cap with 7 people behind you, or taking on two people; however, after you've done it all day for a few weeks you'll realise that you don't even want to play. You can AFK through the "WoW experience" and still rank up, to get the main focus of the game: Gear.
Now, if you're hardcore go ahead, do it. I was hardcore, but I wanted PvP - not a Battleground that I repeat over and over and over. With the new 1.12 patch and cross-realm battlegrounds, it's so tiring all I do is spam Mortal Strike and watch TV, I've even killed a rogue doing this.
Am I skilled? Who knows, but not when my gear gave me that 3k critical strike.
