OT - I've worn out two controllers' right thumsticks by playing CoD4. The depress to run is not kind to them. Either that or I press waaaay too hard.

Microsoft support must have some sort of way to see if you RROD it...or if the console did. Until we know what Microsoft looks for your running a risk if you RROD it yourself...its better just to wait. It will happen sooner or later lol

And how are they going to know you wrapped a towel around your 360 unless you tell them? Maybe they'll use that UV light from CSI? I highly doubt it.

Some people have been caught, and some have not. Don't be one of those people that were.

And besides, if you are complaining about RROD on you 5 times then shut up about it. Microsoft had a not-so-great start. S**t happens to a lot of businesses. I am sure you would feel the same if you owned a huge business with this kind of a problem.

It's not my fault I got the S**t end of the stick, I didn't choose it, so don't tell me not to complain. It's not my fault Microsoft (a very experienced computer company) can't build a computer!

I have had two xboxes try to go down with the RROD, but there is a mod to fix it. I have fixed one box with a error code 0102 and the other had an error 0022. They have been working fine, one for over a year. If you get problems with the game hanging up while you play, that is not always a dirty cd-rom.

There is a guide and a parts list, but I dont think I can post the link. The supplies cost about 8 bucks, so if you have already opened your box you will have to fix it yourself or someone else will have to. MS will not even attempt to fix the box if the sticker is broken or tampered with.

i have a bit of a Rant to get off my chest.
First im on my 2nd Xbox360 and also own a PS3 which i play both just fine.
For those who say to avoid RROD is to not buy a Xbox... well people generally are on these forums to "prevent getting it" meaning they probably own 1 already... so im tired of hearing that over and over again

secondly, lots of people say "well... get a PS3" last i heard... PS3 is no perfect console either, has proven that its Blue-ray Lens displaces it self er-somthing to that effect... so yes... avoid RROD by getting a PS3, dosnt change the fact that your just walking in to a new world with new problems to face, which are just as bad if not worse ( PS3 1 year replacement ) Xbox 3 year now.

all i can say is basicly what everyone has already said, Well ventilated, and keep it clean. another thing to try out is ( dosnt apply to everyone ) try getting up off your butt rather then playing 6-8 hours straight lol , give it breaks , like the working man needs too :P ... thanks for Reading my rant... i look forward to hearing your kids try and flame me now... flame on, i will be watching ^_^

ps3 lens displacement happens with certain sw, so don't get a game the day it comes out.
