Default VGA cable with monitor.

I got a vga cable for my xbox to connect to my monitor but I dont know know to get the sound working. The red and the white sound cables come off of the VGA part of the cable, but I dont know where they go. Can anyone help me and tell me where they go. I know they dont go in my computer because they dont fit there. And I know that they dont go into the speaers I have because they dont fit there either. And my monitor doesnt have a spot for them either... So i'm lost. Also the picture looks a bit blurry for my monitor (its 21 inches, 1680x1050) which resolution should I choose for my monitor in the xbox settings because they dont have 1680x1050 in there. Thanks again. And my monitor has speakers on it, maybe I can get these to work with someones help?

My VGA cable came with an adapter, which allows me to plug them both into a normal PC audio port.

Thanks for your reply! Too bad mine didn't come with that. Is this the package you got?

it's the one I got, I dont think it comes with the converter for audio?

Also, what would you call that sound converter you got? I will try to look for it on ebay.

My packaging was different to that, the cable wasn't on display. I wasn't aware at first that it came with an adapter, but when I removed the packaging the adapter was already connected to the two cables (I'm not sure what you call them).

My package, the same as yours, came with the adapter. You use the adapter to plug into some speaker systems or PC monitors that have speakers.

If you did not receive the said adapter, you can buy similar one here - http://www.amazon.com/3-5mm-Dual-Ste.../dp/B000VX1CXK

Well I bought mine used from Bestbuy (probably a bad idea) and it only had the cable in it, no sound converter. So if I buy this item from amazon.com do I just blug the red cable into the red slot and the white one into the white slot and then the other side into my speakers? My speakers have a headphone slot can I put it in there?

You need to plug the adapter into an audio output device, not an input (the sound from a headphone slot comes from the computer).

Oh.. Sorry I feel so dumb when asking these questions. But instead I should plug it into the back of my computer where the speakers plug into? Oh the back of my speakers theres a blue hole that says "Subwoofer" on it and then theres the following holes on the back of my computer: blue, green, pink, orange, black, and grey. Then at the top theres a pink one and a green one. Theres so many holes I dont know where to plug it in at.

The holes on the back of your computer are most likely input only unless you have a dedicated soundcard that supports input (from the sound of it yours does not). With most PC speakers you can not plug the 3.5mm input into them, but rather they have a 3.5mm plug that must plug into the audio source. You would thus need this - http://www.amazon.com/Console-Adapte...327562&sr=1-19

I have that same product and I use it to plug my 360's audio into my PC speakers without having to use the MP3 input for my speaker set

So I should buy both of the products you linked to and hook them all up, then I can plug them into my speakers and my sound will work?

Just buy the second product, that will allow you to use your speaker system without any other adapters

Ok, I ordered the first product and the second one on accident... It was only one dollar so it doesn't matter. But when it comes in I will try and hook it up. But I know I will probably mess up so do you know of any sort of tutorials that show how to use it? I know the red and white male connectors from the xbox go in one side, but which ones go in the other side? Thanks again I really appreciate all this help!

The setup is very simple. The second product I linked to is the perfect setup for using existing PC speakers. Plug the two RCA cables (Red/White) into their appropriate places and just plug your speakers "PC" cable into the green slot on the adapter, the other slots are really just for surround sound.

Ok, i'm jsut lost on the green cable. Theres really no green cable that comes out of my computer. And the only green one that goes in is the one for my speakers. Unless, do I plug in the red and white cables to the appropriate places and everything else like I made in this diagram?
