Default wireless controller turns on my laptop??

I have a Compaq Presario model V6000 and when I use my wireless controller to turn the 360 on, my laptop turns on. I'm wondering my xbox univ. remote would work and if there is any way to expand its capabilities to do more with my laptop. Any ideas, comments or suggestions are all welcome. Thanks

Have you tried turning it on with your remote? I don't have one, so I don't know if it uses IR or wireless or both.

I'm wondering how the controller is turning on your laptop. Does your laptop have some kind of wireless receiver (not a wireless card for internet)?

Sorry for the late reply, my computer has an ir port built-in because it has an optional remote control.

My computer has a CIR port and this is a no go for me. I was hoping it would work, lol.

From what I've looked up, to use the XBOX 360 remote you need a certain IR receiver. But most places I work only refer to an external one and I can find nothing to use for the internal one.

The only thing I can't figure out is the XBOX controller turning your PC on. It doesn't use IR so it must be some other hardware that reacts to it.

Its the weirdest thing, everytime I turn it on, my laptop boots up. I'd love to find other uses for this.

Looked it up. Didn't see anything specs wise that should react with the hardware at all. I'm just confused. lol

I'm also going to try my univ remote and that little one that came with early first gen 360's. Also my comcast remote is programmed to work with my xbox 360, so I'll try that as well.

Mine does the same. I think if you look up the IR codes for the laptop and the xbox 360 remote you should be able to program it to work.
