i've got an xbox 360 (400 dollar model)
a computer with windows xp

thats where i hit the problem

i got windows xp from my brother it was on a burned disc he had made with the serial number on the top, so my windows xp isn't exactly authentic

so i cant download windows connect from the windows site

i went to xbox.com and attemted to download the system package or whatever it is... and i cant because "your computer is not fully updated" and i cant download updates because microsoft (because its not an authentic version)

i have yet to explore the windows media center..

(that is my situation)

(this is my question)

is there an alternitive to any of windows programs for transfering music?

or

can anyone help me?

Buy a copy of Windows perhaps?

If you pirate your software then don't expect all of it's features.

ok, so i came up with a few solutions

A) completely idexing my music folder on cd's and download them to my xbox

B) get some sort of memory card or flash drive

(my question)

are flash drives compatible with the xbox 360

and if i can get one that works, will i be able to download from the flash drive to the xbox 360 hard drive, or just stream?

iConnect for the 360 and Mac has also been updated!

The 360 works with flash drives and hdds. Also if you were smart you would dload windows media connect on a pc that has a real ver of windows on it and copy the .exe onto your pc or get someone to send you the installer.

I downloaded Windows Media Connect on my pirated version of Windows without any problems. I can't get it to work tho my 360 can't find my pc at all. I think it might be my switch in my room not working properley. I might try to directly connect them and see if it works.

And Windows Update does work on pirated copies. Just not through the website. You need to turn on Automatic Updates and let it do its thing.

You can only stream from a harddrive or usb flash drive to the 360.

i have a laptop (compaq) with fully working windows xp, currently hooked through a router (lynksys) wirelessly (PCMI card)

heres my question

can i download windows media connect/media center to the laptop and then hook it to my 360?

and if so, how can i get my music folder on my pc to my laptop

Yes you can you just run wmc and set the music folder as shared go on te 360 connect to the pc and the pc will block the 360. You unblock it and your done.

How do you unblock the 360? I can't get wmc to work at all. The 360 says that it can't find my PC. I've checked my firewall and allowed it in there but its still not detecting it.

Do you think it could be because my 360, PC and PS2 all go into a switch in my room and then the switch goes to the router/adsl modem? It shouldnt be because of that. I haven't tried connecting my 360 directly to my pc as I don't want to have to unplug each time i want to use the internet or go on xblive.
