Also you cant swap the hdd. If i remember correctly there is a unique id on each hdd so you cant just swap it.

I was thinking of picking up a internal 100 gb and putting it in a usb case shell... (you save anywhere from $50 to $150 doing this.)

but would i have to connect it to my pc still if i wanted to copy songs from my mp3 player to it? and can you still store demos and everything? because if i cant store demos, trailers and stuff off of live, its pointless.

HA right. I'm with TMK, I hate hardware mods. Very risky.

As of this minute you cant use a non ms made xbox harddrive for savedata, dlc, trailers, dem os.etc. Just for streaming music and possibly for vids from your PC not xbox marketplace vids.

You are correct. Their cant be a 20gb limit because ms said they might release larger models of the hdd.

There can very easily be a limit for the time being. It would only be a software limit. And we all known how MS love to update there software. So if/when they release a bigger HDD they could also release an update allowing it to use bigger HDD's.

@tommi. I don't think there is a limit at all.

Well if Microsoft was smart.. right now the 360 is formated in FAT32.. which would only have a max of around 40 Gigs.. and if anybigger microsoft would have the new harddrives in NTFC.

"In theory, this should support a total of approximately 268,435,438 (< 228) clusters, allowing for drive sizes in the range of 2 terabytes." - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fat32

Even if it is limited they could just have multiple partitions and a user wouldn't even know.
