I have a component cable for my Xbox. Will that same cable work on my (future) Xbox 360?

No It will not. But unless you're getting the core system, then your console with come with an xbox360 compatible component cable

I've been grinding through the numbers to see if it would be cheaper to get the Pro system with the $100 Micro Center rebate, or get the $100 core through Amazon and buying all of the overpriced stuff to make it a pro.

If I need to buy the component cable as well, it looks like the $300 pro-bundle wins.

You might want to read this. They add the $100 core with the stuff needed to make it match a premium and it equals like $280

Apparently I fail at the maths. Thanks for that link.

Edit: Uh oh, they forgot to add a headset. That makes it even with the Micro Center rebate, assuming I go with Amazon's free "We'll ship it when we're damn well ready" shipping.

Yes, but you will get an extra wired controller, and a spare set of av cables.

Also if you get the Core you can buy a decent headset instead of the crap one that comes with the premium.
