I will be buying the Xbox 360 next week but can it play WMV,AVI,or DIXV on the console? If it doesn't,I guess I'll just get the PS3 then.

WMV only, but dont look to the PS3 for any better video support.

You can get a program that transcodes divx on the fly and streams it to your xbox360 as a WMV file

Whoa just use TVersity to stream most formats on the fly. Here is the TVersity web site http://www.tversity.com/

What you talking about. the ps3 has a lot more video format support than wmv. It has mpeg 1, mpeg 2, mp4 avc. Of course it doesn't have avi, or divx however i rather have mpeg 2 above all those. Considering i love ripping my dvds to my ps3 and playing back the .vobs. Why would i want to put a avi file on my ps3 when its going to look like *****. Thats just my oppinion though. oh well.
