I'm pretty sure this came with an update a while back, I know it isnt very new news. And yeah, I hope they do add a web browser and chat client

I keep a USB keyboard next to my TV for the rare event that I send someone a text message on XBL.

This is nothing new. USB keyboards have worked since the launch.

i tried it with an older keyboard it didnt work.. i might try the newer one later. The USB mouse didnt work though not sure if they do any way jsut checking..

The xbox folks have already said that they will NEVER officially allow the mouse to be used except in certain titles.
Forget using a Keyboard/mouse combo in FPS games.
Unofficially there is an adapter out there but initial reviews say "it sucks" and is laggy.
My old wired Apple USB keyboard sits atop the TV and I use it when I have to message folks in XBL.

Well, I think it will since I use an ethernet to usb adapter from my 360 to my pc and i can get on xbox live through it. You might as well try, its not like you're not gonna harm you're xbox doing it...

how new does a usb keyboard have to be to hook up to 360 I have a dell usb and a wireless microsoft keyboard with wireless usb adapter? I can't get either it to work...any help is greatly appreciated.

You need to use a standard keyboard not one needs drivers. Just plug it in and it will work immediately.

my bad....I wasn't in messenger to try....was only plugging in and checking to see if caps lock light came on for verification....Doh!!
