Hey guys, I haven't been around much lately because they finally blocked qj at work. I just wanted to tell everyone a little bit about Shadowrun as I am beta testing it and they finally lifted the NDA. First off let me say that IMHO this is the best 360 game I have played yet. Imagine Counterstrike with magic, different races with different with different abilities, and 'tech' which are things that give you abilities through the use of technology.
At the beginning of each round there is a buy period where you buy weapons, magic, and tech before the round actually starts. Your magic and tech are powered by your essence, which is basically your mana.
The races are human, elf, dwarf, and troll. Elves(my personal favorite) are faster than all other races, heal themselves when they are no longer taking damage and their essence refills very quickly. On the flip side they are taller than dwarves and humans so they have a larger target profile and they have the least health of all the races.
Dwarves are shorter than all the other races and slower. They have the most health and they drain essence from anything that has it, enemies, magical objects, and even teammates if they get close enough.
Trolls are much bigger than all other races but their skin hardens anytime they start taking damage. So after the first time they are hit the damage they take from subsequent hits is much lower.
Humans don't have any special abilities but they are tougher than elves, faster than dwarves and trolls and their essence refills relatively quickly.
The magic that you can purchase includes: teleport, resurrect, summon, strangle, gust, and smoke. Teleport lets you teleport 8 to 10 meters through anything. Resurrect allows you to resurrect a downed teammate, although once a resurrected teammate is killed again they can not be resurrected again. Summon allows you to summon a minion and either have it protect an area or go after a specific enemy. Strangle allows you to cover an area with crystals that are very difficult to get across and damage anyone touching them, which are especially useful for the gametype in which you have to protect an artifact from being taken and captured by the enemy. Smoke allows you to turn into a wisp of smoke until you either turn it off or run out of essence. When you are smoke bullets, explosions, and katanas can not harm you. Gust allows you to push back an oncoming enemy or damage an enemy who is smoke.
I will post more information when I have time. I recommend looking into this game and definitely check out the demo when it hits Xbox Live.
