this game looks sooo sweet
if you dont want to download it, i will go over some of the stuff they talk about.
-Game starts in a prison (like all the others)
-several types of texturing are used on every surface(diffuse maps, normal maps, specular maps and parallax maps).
-You are able to pick up objects in the world and throw or drop them and they will react with the real world physics, in real time.
-Patrick stuert along with many more have lend their voices for the game.
-Oblivion features over 50 hours of recorded dialogue, all lip synced in real time.
-the voice fill half of the games DVD.
-Forests are generated in the game, they are not hand placed by an artist.
-The game developers spent time at the university of maryland geology lab and studied how soil erodes, how rocks form, and how trees grow. They had the game create that for them.
- All foliage animates with the whether.(trees swaying, grass and bushes blowing)
-The capitol you are in is about 16 square miles, and half of it is forest (all of which you can explore)
-Forests have many gameplay experiences such as things to hunt(deer) and ingredients to mix(mushrooms) or even relics to explore.
-during combat. It sems alot different than morrowind, You deffinatly take control and you are actually blocking and hitting.
-When you hit a charactor or creature you get blood on your sword and vise versus when a charactor hits you.
-Alot of times you can get lost in these forest. So they have givin us a
compass and even on the compass are cool locations to explore that are near by.
-All dungeons are hand crafted, not generated.
-by tapping the attack button, you can do a quick attack. If you hold it in you do a more powerful attack.
-3rd person perspective is now available.
-Defence, melee and magic are all one system, meaning you can cast magic with you sword out(wooo hooo)
-Action keeps you on your toe in the game by not only filling dungeos with monsters, but traps too.
-Ragdoll phisics are used on all charactors (and it looks pretty sweet too)
-You will not notice the rpg system at all. Your charactor simply improves as you play, getting better at the things you actually do.
-there are no exp points.
-when you equip your bow and arrow, you can see the quiver on his back and your charctor actually removes them while using it.
-The arrows interact with the correct surfaces. They will bounce off stone, stick in wood.
-You can even kill your opponent and go and take the arrows back if they are not damaged.
-going into 3rd person, you can use shadows to your advantage and sneak through an area undetected. (Dark ages of Splinter Cell)
-there are special steath moves you can do with the bow, such as zoom.
-If an enemy has a trap set up, you can use if against them.
-NPC's have full 24/7 scheduals,
-The NPC's are not scripted, they are givin goals and they figure out on their own, how to accomplish them.
-over 1000 Npc's live in oblivion, all with their own scheduals and jobs.
-You start most of your quests by listening in on conversations, you hear key word and they are adding to you journal. then you may ask more people about the topic and you will then complete the mission. This makes things more natural.
-Each city has shops, good for trading, breaking into at night, making it your own.
-There is a new traveling system. that allows you to quick travel instantly to a place youve already discovered.
Honestly seeing is much better than reading this, i suggest you watch it
