1.75? Yes but is that installed or the iso?
It's about 1.6-1.7 installed.
Half-life 2 is over 4gb installed, that BF2 size seems like a rip or something.
little use from the cell? the cell will be doing most of the work. The rsx wont be running hardly any of the code or phsyics or nething its all cell. And its a major draw back, the cell isnt a gaming processor its a multi media one, while its fast its insane to program for. Yes the 360 has more than 1 core but at least they are cores. The ps3 is 1 core with floating point spes, the difference is massive. And according to developers sony are complete *******s and they hate them. They never once thought how will this effect our developers, what they thought was we dont care they have to develop for us, where market leaders.Zitat:

I hate when devs pick, and choose sides. It's dreadfully annoying when i got to get a system i dont even really want, because they don't wanna make muti-platform games.
Well a lot of the time is because the developers don't have the time to develop for more than one platform. Then there's money (dev kits cost quite a bit). Most developers would probably like to make their games multiplatform - means more people can buy it.Zitat:

sony made the ps3 so hard to program for that lots of the not so large companies can either program for pc and 360 or the ps3. Because the price of making a game engine that works on the ps3s spes is that great. And they did it on purpose. What a bunch of ****s.Zitat:

That's an install straight off the retail DVD. Nothing removedZitat:

Half Life2 on its own is about 3gb and over 4.5gb with Counter strike.
Wow, if Half Life two is only 3GB imagine what these 200GB games are going to achieve............Zitat:

Bigger games = better? :eh:Zitat:
Zitat von brain_stew
He's just pointing out that Half Life 2 is a pretty small game in size. If you ever played the game you would expect it to be atleast 5 gigs, that's what is eye catching :PZitat:

Wow, someone can't get sarcasm. If you had been following the conversation it would be pretty obvious that I was being sarcastic.Zitat:
Zitat von Ciaran500
No, I wasn't at all, its not a putdown or anything but most Americans seem to find it impossible to grasp sarcasm lol. :) The guy who created this topic was saying that we are going to have awesome 200GB games and seemed to be implying the more space a game takes up the better it is. The example of Half Life showed how wrong this guy really is, in both terms of how big games will become and how it'll improve games.Zitat:

Sarcasm never works well over the internet. :/
And I'm not American ;)
Ooops, I just correlated the lack of sarcasm understanding to being American rather than being on t'internet.Zitat:

Of stuff that I've read regarding Xbox 360 vs. PS 3, one glaring problem shows up. No one has really seen a PS 3 yet. Sony did this with the PS 2 as well saying that the PS 2 was capable of outstanding graphics in it's first generation games. But I remember that the first generation games, truthfully, didn't look better than the Dreamcast, due to basically no anti-aliasing. Also saying that Sony is going to keep the same hardware for a good amount of years, look at the PS 2, it's went through several feature upgrades. The first version lacked network capability, progressive scan, internal storage, and the main reason everyone wanted it was because they could play their current library, watch dvds and music, eventually get newer, better games. The novelty of a backwards compatible system wears off when you can't even use one memory card for the PS1 and PS2 games. The only game I've ever chucked into my PS2 that was PS1 was Castlevania:SOTN. Then I had to constantly keep tabs on my old memory card and switch 'em. Fun. Not to mention that the one thing that makes the Playstation for me, is the controller. It was masterfully designed and people have gotten used to it. I don't think the new controllers better than it. In fact, I bet it'd be dangerous if I chucked the new controller, it'd probably fly around the room and wail me in the head.
PS: Has anyone noticed that the font on the PS 3 is the same font used for the Spider-Man movies? Weird.
At the time when i brought the ps2, the first game i played was a ps1 game, cause the ps2 game i wanted was sold out.

The guy were i bouth my 50 inch Hdtv dlp from cosco said if u tweak the brightness and stuff it can look just as good as a plasma and lcd cause i seen the hd channels ohhh my god! they look freaking awesome dude so sweetZitat:
Zitat von Robafella
Well dlp is your best bet for games
Hm. Who's to say what the next-generation will hold? We're not there yet, kiddos.
The Revolution will cause an uproar and may cause the other systems to be "pwned". I believe this is the future, games matter, graphics don't. I mean thatNes is still fun and it barley uses sprites, if any, I love the old games like ballon fight and Mario and Legend of Zelda, more than some games on the current gen systems. If you have great graphics but you gameplay sucks I.E. pressing left to jump and using the second joystick and a means of selecting items instead of aiming in an fps, you will not have a v=system with a long life. *cough*atarilynx*cough* but good gameplay with bad graphics *cough*gameboy*cough* you have ane awesome system that outlasts the technologically superior.Zitat:

P.S. anybody else think the ps3 looks loke a George Foreman Grill?

Yes I'm fully aware of that, I am just bringing it back for the people that haven't seen it (if there are any)
I cant believe The price of some of these games on Game;
Quake IV, Need for speed most wanted & Ghost recon 3 are 50 pounds each??!
I want all 3, so thats like 430 pounds....
:naughty: MICRO$$$$
50 is the highest it will go. Microsoft havnt released the UK prices yet. If game price it lower than MS release it they will have to sell it at that price and so theyve put the largest possible price. Microsoft have already said they dont want a massive change between current gen and nextgen. Games will rise by about £5 i think, at least MS games like pd0,halo 3 etc. Normal price £35, special edition games £40. More than reasonable I reckon.Zitat:
Zitat von inertia187
Game are notorious for overpricing, no games are listed for more than £40 on play and they will only fall not rise.Zitat:
Zitat von OblivionX
They'll most likely do what they usually do. Hardcore gamers buy consoles first so would pay the extra (whether they like it or not). As soon as the mass market have their hands on them, the prices will drop.
£40 I would expect most places to sell them for. OK I preordered.. awesome, I'm hardcore
Game stopped pre-oreders in stores for the first batch of 360's a few days back. There un-sure of how many they'll be able to get so its not second batch pre-orders that may well be after xmas.
Its looking increasingly likely that I'll have to take the Asda / tesco route. Still, I don't think places like Woolworths and Dixons have even started their preorder schemes yet.Zitat:
Zitat von Olly C
Dixons have, not sure about Woolworths though.Zitat:
Zitat von brain_stew
I work p/t in blockbuster, they havent started pre-orders in my store yet. Although its a smallish store, they had a few psps left over on release day...just dont know yet if they will get the 360 in.
I presume Dixons haven't sold out yet? I might use Dixons as they seemed to have some pretty good deals on PSPs.Zitat:

has it been released or does anyone know how we would be able to play xbox games via hard drive?
would there be a ripping option on the dashboard or what?
oh. and on that note, how big are xbox games?
how expensive are the aftermarket wireless controllers? wired controlers?
what is a teraflop?
why is perfect dark zero the most anticipated release title?
thanks
a teraflop is the next step up from a giga flop - it goes flop, megaflop, gigaflop, teraflop, i believe that this is the count of operations per second but I'm not sure(uneducated answer here)
PD0 is the most anticipated game because the N64 version was the ****ing bomb. And everyone loves sequels. :D
K quick answer Yes you will be able to play xbox games only greatest titles, Yea you can play music from your ipod, psp, and photos from your digi cam or your cd and store them on the hard drive, their the same as xbox games, there are only madcatz after controlls and no one know how much yet but the ones from ms are 39.99 , i dont know, cause it was a great game for n64 and everyone likes it its going to be a great gameZitat:

i heard somewhere they may use an emulator on the HDD and that they will update for more games...
but could just be a false rumor
