Dun dun dun.

Guess the very high failure rate may have been true.

It's about time. But its still a "quick" solution to a long term problem. Get the hardware sorted MS.

Is it the same length of time for UK warrentys? (Since we already get a year, By law.)

They've already started adding an extra heatsink to them and they're due a major hardware revision whenever they get the new chips ready.

Awesome, I was a bit worried that my 360 would get the 3 red lights once the warranty expires.

So does that mean you'll still be holding off getting a 360, or will you now take the plunge after E3?

Pretty much as soon as I can get my hands on one of the Elite's, once they start production with the 65nm chips.

I hope mine craps out once they get the 60nm chips in there....I still have 1.5 years to go...

Man, I almost took my 360 apart a week ago to do the fanshroud mod, and give my case a custom paint job, since it was out of warranty....good thing I didn't....

Now you're just being illogical. You're choosing to wait for a product you obviously want, out of fear of something that may or may not happen,
despite the fact that it's covered buy a three year warranty.
And there is still no guarantee that you'll ever have to rely on that ridiculously long warranty.

I mean whatever it's your money and your choice. But it seems you're trying to find every reason not to get one, all consoles eventually break.

Does this mean if I get a broken 360 off ebay for cheap I can just send it in and get it repaired for free?

Yea, now every 360 is under warranty (for red lights, not dead DVD drives).
So just go get one, and get Gears.

I want a unit with the newest quietest drive, 65nm cool as ice chips and probably a new mobo design. Is that so wrong? If I get one and it's as loud as the one I borrowed off my friend, then it's going back. I don't want to have to deal with it and I am fine with waiting. Just because MS extended the warranty just means they're probably a lot of consoles out there that are still too susceptible to the RROD. It's going to take a while to weed out those consoles and I don't want the hassle of waiting weeks before I get my console back because I had to ship it back to MS (or the store I got it from, for that matter). It's not illogical, I'm just in no rush.
