It is confirmed! On August the 8th in the US the Xbox 360 will have a price cut!

Elite - $450
Halo Edition - $400
Premium - $350
Core - $280

"Oh, don't act so surprised. Was there ever really any chance that Microsoft would let Sony get a free ride for long on price cuts and start swiping console sales? Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter doesn't think so, and he's come out with predictions of price cuts across the board for the Xbox 360, in response to Sony's impending $100 PS3 slash. Michael expects the Elite to drop from $479 to $399, the Premium to sink from $399 to $349, and the Core to fall from $299 to $249. He seems to think it's connected with the Xbox 360 shipment shortage of late -- which could just as well be caused by a potential heatsink revamp, but his price-cut logic probably isn't far off either. Unfortunately for those of you waiting for a Nintendo console to make less of a dent in your wallet, Wedbush Morgan doesn't expect the Wii or DS prices to move by the end of the year, as sales remain strong for those two."

I would love to see this confirmed but unfortunately, it's just a prediction. I want an Elite so bad but I may just wait until the built in Blu ray drive.

The ps3 price cut was only a prediction, and was even denied by sony themselves at one point....and there wont be a blu ray drive, even external. In a EGM magazine, there was a interview with one of the xbox guys, pretty much he said that microsoft believes HD-DVD is right,

I didn't say it wouldn't happen I just thought you had found an article which confirmed this. Also, the PS3 price cut was being reported true by retailers, therefor not a prediction.

Built in blu ray could definitely happen. Peter Moore has even said so.

A price cut has been predicted for a long time. Nothing has been heard from MS as of yet and like UF said, retailers actually reported the PS3 price cut, which hasn't happened with the 360.

Plus, MS has tons of great games coming out now. There's no reason to cut it, since the games will push the sales.

One will probably come by Christmas though.

So by the sounds of that article MS might cut the price, if the ps3 price makes a difference. If that's the case then MS will be cutting the price because it's already made a difference.

Don't trust Patcher. I don't think I've seen 1 prediction of his come true. Built in HD Drive? Wont happen. MS said that they want to give their consumers choice, and not force it on them.

What are you smokng userfriendly? The 360 will never have a built in blu-ray drive. It may have a add-on blu-ray drive, but you have a PS3.

I agree with Pachter, I expect a price cut tomorrow.

I hope MS is smart and doesnt do a price cut. The 360 has a great selection of games and many other great features that wont have any potential buyer regretting the purchase a month later like with the PS3. The PS3 needed a price cut the 360 however doesnt.

MS won't have a price drop now.

They don't need it.

The 360 has a ton of AAA titles coming out this year and they want to maximize sales.

It would be stupid of them to have a price drop when they know they are going to be moving a huge amount of consoles without it.

Yeah, but roll that list up together and they are system sellers. I think he wasn't trying to pick up out one game on the list and say it would sell systems. He was saying that the entire list will, and all previous solid titles.

MSFT doesn't need a price cut, cause that will show they are afraid of Sony. If they win without cutting the price, they just show Sony "LoL we win, *****es, look at us rolling in dough while you loose even more money."

If they cut, they say "Crap Sony got better stuff than us were scared let's cut the price"

And, MSFT is extremely smart at keeping a good image (most of the time), so I wouldn't expect a cut from them.

You shouldn't be, RROD's happen 6 months - 2 years into use, so by the time it dies, youll be happy under the lil warranty tree.

I'm pretty sure they will have a price drop, even $50.....that or they will start bundling 360's with 3 games, or 2 and an extra controller, or wifi and a 120 gb HDD....It's about time anyways, it's been over a year at full price...

If people keep buying it at full price MS will keep selling it at full price. lol did you see there was a new XBL member every 8 seconds last year lol MS makes 300million dollars alone on XBL subscription sales. I think keeping the 360 full price but offering XBL gold free would be better but thats not gonna happen.

Playstation is a more known brand, so when deciding between two consoles that are twenty dollars apart, you'll probably go with the one you're more familiar with.

Also, with the price drop dumb people might think it's on sale, so they would get one as fast as they can.
