I'm surprised no one has posted this yet. Basically, newly manufactured premium 360s (not cores) have HDMI. You can tell if it has HDMI by looking at the box, which will have the HDMI logo if it has HDMI.

Not sure if it has 65nm chips yet, but I wouldn't be too surprised if they did. Someone needs to open up the systems first to find out.

Yes, if for some reason you didn't have component cables.

Which version of HDMI are they using? 1.2 like the Elite, right?

Should be. Means if you don't care about the 120gb hard drive, you can get HDMI too for cheaper, and you can always upgrade.

Expect the core to be discontinued soon and all SKUs to have HDMI. Wouldn't be surprised if they also..

a) Killed the premium and made the Elite white.
b) Killed the Elite and gave the Premium a 120gb hard drive.

You stole my post. and made it a thread.....

I'm still getting an Elite though, I don't want anything thats not black or at least off black on my stand.

It makes sense for MS to do this though. Less inventory, basically one board to rule them all. Plus, HDMI 1.2 is probably pretty cheap now.

This is pretty awesome news, especially for Canadians who don't get movie marketplace and therefore have no need for the huge HDD....

I doubt they will ditch the elite(or change it's colour)....if anything, give it built in wifi so it actually is elite...but damn, lot's of people that just bought them would be po'd if they did that.

The video marketplace is being implemented in Canada this fall.

Core (@launch) 299$. Now, 279$.
Premium (@launch) 399$. Now, 350$. +With HDMI port.
Elite (@launch) 479$. Now, 450$.

Also stores have been selling out of Elites as fast as they are Wiis. Furthermore the Premiums out now MAY or MAY NOT have the HDMI port. Microsoft is simply doing what Sony is doing to the 60 GB SKU.

They'll never take away the Core... The Core is their way to combat the Wii, and to pad penetration numbers. Also, to get that oh so important, "Casual Gamer" that Nintendo is tapping into.

Supposedly its the only way to get HD audio but being as the 360 and PS3 dont support HD Audio it's completely pointless.

Why not?

In that case the PSP shouldn't be rereleased with TV-output added.

80GB PS3 shouldn't be released.

HDMI 1.3 has some cool stuff like auto lip syncing, but the 360 doesn't support 1.3.
