Xbox 360 Fall Update.

Known Confirmed Features.

Known Features Friends of Friends: With this new feature, you’ll be able to browse the friends list of anyone on your Xbox LIVE friends list. We’re also adding a ‘Friends List’ setting in the Dashboard* and on Xbox.com to allow you to control who can see your friends list. -Everyone (only available to members 18 and older) -Friends only (available to members 13 and older) -Blocked (available to all members, and automatic for anyone under the age of 13) It’s important to mention that when the dashboard update is released, the new default setting will be Everyone. For those members that do now want to share their friend list, we’ve added a page on Xbox.com that is available today where you can modify this setting as you see fit. Xbox Originals: Original Xbox games will be added to the Marketplace. The first available games include Halo, Fahrenheit, Fable, Crimson Skies, Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath Of Cortex and Burnout 3. Each of those will set you back 1200 Microsoft points (USD$15). These games will not have achievements. It is not yet known if the guide botton will be available in game, but it is doubtful. Video Marketplace: This will be made available to those in Europe. Sadly no word on Australasia yet. Game Library: This menu sits above "Achievements" and "Games Played." Clicking on "Game Library" brings up a menu. It features My Games, Previously Played Games, Friends Currently Playing, Game Store and Automatic Downloads. Clicking on My Games opens up a new type of menu called "Twist," which will be used for multiple types of navigation. It's a horizontal Zune navigational bar that lists Games, Arcade, Demos, Recently Downloaded Games, Recently Played Games, etc. Parental Timer: The new Xbox 360 Family Timer can restrict children's activity time and can be set on a per-day or per-week basis. Helpful notifications will appear to warn the gamer that the session is nearing the end, and the feature will automatically turn off the console when the predetermined time limit has been exceeded.

I'm a little taken aback by the price. Most, if not all (too lazy to check) of these games are backwards compatible and can be bought for 5-10 bucks. Hell i've bought 360 games for $10 brand new (it was doax2, but still, it's the principle :P )

Especially since they admitted that the games have bugs as well.

800 would have been doable, for some games.

I'm also interested if they will be compressing these somehow, or if they will be 2-4 gb...I suppose it's no biggie as many demos are 1.3 gb already...and they serve up plenty of HD movies which are over 4 gb.

Supposedly Canada was to get the movie marketplace this update as well....it'd be crappy if that changed and they shafted us.....

If they do these games for 800 then they'll have to drop the price of Live Arcade games too. As these are full retail games and not smaller lower scale games which retail for 800 MS points already (400 MS points for retro). IMO tho all live arcade games should be 400 points, but thats never gonna happen

I'm confused by MS saying that there are bugs in the games, surely it shouldn't be any different from running the game from a DVD, which so far all games announced are backwards compatible and work fine. Only reason I can see for bugs is if the games are compressed.

Also it's confirmed that there are no achievements or anything extra added to the games, so no Halo XBL multiplayer. Might as well get preowned copies of the disc for half the price that will run bug free on your 360.

The bugs would occur with the discs aswell. It's using the same backwards compatibility.

I've never had any bugs with Fable or Halo using backwards compatibility. Then again I didn't get very far into Fable, but Halo ran flawlessly.

I'm usually pretty good at spotting slow down in games that other people miss.

Nights was telling me last night that Halo lagged extremely bad. Haven't had a chance to try it out for myself yet though, so I can't say for sure.

lag refers to online play and is entirely different to dropped frames and slow down.

Halo does not have online play so I'm not sure where he's getting lag from.
