Final Fantasy 13 Announced for 360!!

i wonder how many discs it will be on. 13?
or maybe it's content will be just dumbed down, compressed more?

or maybe they will dumb down the development of the ps3 version so that it's more port friendly to the 360 instead of taking the best useage of the ps3 into mind like Hideo kojima did with MGS4

Have they said if they're going to max out the disk? Seeing as RPGs usually repeat and reuse a lot of textures it seems like they won't.

Textures aren't really the deal though...Its the movies and audio/speech. That will be the real space eater. After all, thats what made MGS4 take so much space.

its mainly audio. because of the quality of all models now, all programmers have to do is write scripts (similer to .txt files, to put it VERY simply), and bam, cutscene. Audio, on the other hand, is a *****. MGS4 has 7.1 uncompressed PCM, which is BIGASS.

Anyway, my take on this:

Brilliant move by MS, but i dont like how quickly SE got sold out. (this is coming from a ps3 fanboy ) I hope both are good, and they probably will be.

I dont have a 360 (sorry!), but im liking some of the stuff i see. hopefully Sony will be able to match or surpass today's conference. (LET ME SEE GOW3!!!)

I'm not gonna guess or assume on that but at least they basically confirms that the 360 version will be ported from the PS3 version. Not the other way around which (generally) doesn't work so well.

I guess this'll be another game that I wait and see about. If the 360 version is more than one disc and/or coming later than the PS3 version then I'll get the PS3 version. If they're both one disc and both the same release date then it's going to be a tough decision.

Then again is the US release is before the EU release then I can import the PS3 version and play it straight away.

hmmm...im more concerned with the games quality more then what console it'll be on.....i haven't liked any of the FF games after 10.

personally the only games post-Enix merger i haven't enjoyed were crystal chronicles, unlimited saga, and FF3 DS.

I could never get into rpgs on handheld systems, I hate mmorpgs so ff11 didn't appeal to me, and 12 and me didn't click.... I'm not saying they are bad, just that they had something that turned me away.

i hear what you are saying, i'm a bit different though. i absolutely love rpgs on handhelds for some reason. And for a long time i did NOT like XII at all. but the more i played it , the more it grew on me and now i love the game for it's great presentation, music and gameplay. But also hate the game for it's strict lack of cutscenes and poor character devlopment.

XI i'm still getting a bit used to as I just started it a while ago. and i just don't usually play MMO's because they are just devoid and dull of anything other than level grinding.

2:09 - Hashimoto pointed out that they have no plans to make the versions differences.

If anything Sony have the upper hand still as Versus 13 is still exclusive.

It would be really cool if SE announces a FF7 remake for the ps3.

That article says nothing of the sort. It mentions Versus but it doesn't say it's coming to 360 at all.

Pure Final Fantasy fans should be upset. Due to it coming on DVD, they wont be able to take full advantage of things like Blu-Ray space.

So its pretty much guarenteed, this game isnt going to be as good as it would have if it had stayed PS3 Exclusive.


ZOMFG FANBOYZ. No, its logic. No sort of compression can take a dual layered blu-ray disk to a DVD. The only option i see is 3+ DVD's. But that would be pretty wack.

Blue Dragon was 3 discs and Lost Odyssey was 4 discs and square are no stranger to multi disc games.

I just hope the Bluray version doesn't suffer because of this. I'm guessing it won't with Square announcing that they'll finish the PS3 version before starting the 360 one.

It would be alright, FF 8 and 9 had 4 discs. But it would still be better on blue ray though.

I'm not saying that 4 discs isnt capable, i just think its going to hinder the game alot.

I mean, switching disks quarter way through games is a brilliant way to just throw you out of the immersion that the game tries to create. Maybe it would be smarter for them to remove a few things that take up large amounts of space that wont impact the game as bad. eg. music. Anyway, they clearly have a plan if they've announced it. Just hoping it doesnt hinder the PS3 version.

It's Final Fantasy. Changing discs wont break the immersion unless you're planning on playing the game straight through. Changing disc every 8 or so hours will be more than plausible.

Plus I'm fairly certain that with a long game stopping to sleep will break the immersion more than quickly changing a disc.

There is no way i would buy the 360 version. Blue ray is the perfecr medium for this type of game. No disc switching, multiple voice languages, and graphical superiority. This game does not belong on dvds.

I don't know what's wrong with multiple disks. I loved playing FFVII or Legend of the Dragoon and having to change the disk. I'd be like ALRIGHT beat f*cking disk 1! Now I can use the disk with Rose on it

I very much doubt it. And how does bluray make it graphically superior?

The only reason to get it on bluray rather than DVD is to avoid switching discs (and if it comes out earlier then thats another reason).
