Check out the front page. Apparently Rare is manufacturing PDZ at a 1:1 ratio with hardware, and are claiming 700,000 copies, so that means 700,000 units for launch day, right?

There are 400,000 360 units, so that's more than a 1:1 ratio...

More like 1:1.5

on the front page they also say, "eevaert said that figure was based on the early launch period of the hardware, and that a further run is expected in the days ahead."

The only thing I've heard is 400,000... I don't know where everything else is coming from...

there was some rumor that had an "exact" number of consoles and it was a little over a million and something...

i don't think 400,000 is enough..

wtf? DFS, where did you hear 400k? what is the source and why should we believe it? this veevert or whomevere is a direct M$ source who would know better than any other source claiming 400k for the first day. i'd take his word first seeing as there isnt any reliable source for teh 400k # and the 400k estimates were also being claimed to be for the whole year. this veevert guy's claims fall perfectly in line with what the other M$ guy, the exec, said last week about them expecting to sell thru 3mil worldwide by year end.

conclusion, 700k looks to be the right number for NA. not 400k most likely.

Weather it's 400,000, or 700,000, neither is acceptable...

i didnt flame you DFS, you said you had no idea where the 700k # came from. its was clearly outlined mutliple times in the story the thread was started off of. a RARE exec said it. i do see now where you got your 400k # from. but its from eb games. recall that eb games only gets notice on THEIR shipments for their chains and gamestop as well as that other store, cant think of their name off hand. they have no idea what wal mart or the remaining 60% of the retailers or so are getting. if they are getting 400k, expect a hefty amount in total. and keep in mind this is only for NA, and its NOT for the whole launch window (the 700k, not 400k...that is for launch window if i read correctly) according to the RARE guy. also note that articel stating 400k is old compared the 700k revisement.

posted yesterday, a full 10 days after teh 400k claim by eb for the launch window. keep in mind both are likely accurate. eb has no idea how many everyone else gets and most likely are about right with their 400k estimates for their chains thru x-mas.

and no, 1.5 mil on day 1 is a ridiculous # to try to manufacture. its not needed and wont happen. itd be grea tho.

btw, i dont hold back on DFS only b/c he's a mod and as such should be checking his info more carefully. nothing personal DFS. i just am a stickler for details after watching the ignorant spread of misinformation around the net for years now. just trying to keep the facts straight so others dont run thru the hills screaming on and on about only 400k for launch until its actually the case. which its not looking like it will be. im only correcting you, not trying to undermine you. but if you ar ea mod and post in these 360 boards, you SHOULD double check what you post when its strictly about objective things imho.

The US will get close to or a little over 1 million on launch day, dipping much lower than that figure would be suicide. 700,000 is possible, 400k is never going to happen but 1 million seems likley. Didn't they release a figure a little over 1 million to shareholders anyway?

DFS is a member with a few extra powers and only human like anyone else, he's allowed to make mistakes especially when we're talking about a subject that is based on estimation and rumours.
