I have just got off the phone from ASDA and Tecso in Manchester, in ASDA EASTLANDS opposite City Manchester Stadium they have 30 people waiting in line, but only have 18 xbox 360s to sell. in Tecso only one store is selling it Stockport branch and they only have 9 with 15 people in line. The people have refuesd to leave.

My only hope now is Argos i went less week and i was told to come on the day.

this is what i feel like for not pre-ordering.

Dont ask me why i didnt. Because it wasnt on UK TV that much i felt like i was the only person that new till nov 15 when i went every f*ck store in manchester trying to preorder for the 2nd dec........

i heard on the news this morning going to schoool that theres not going to be a shortage

there will be a shipment coming into the UK everyweek, and this was from a MS employee over the radio, lets see what happens

btw cant remember the guys name will try remember it later..
i just pre ordered last week, hopefully mine comes for christmas.. a week or 2 after christmas is fine but more than a month im not gonna b happy :|

Truly one of the more bungled launches of recent memory. If you don't have enough supply for a worldwide launch then don't do one. Did they just do it for bragging rights? Who cares honestly if you did a worldwide launch if not even half the people who wanted one could get one within 2 months of launch.

You're definetly one of the lucky stiffs, but I would rather take a 6 month delay in order for a company to get their stuff together when releasing something. They're alienating an awful lot of people, and it can't possibly be good for business. This is something I'd expect Sony to do. :icon_wink

I think your gonna be very unhappy, I placed my pre-order in September and am only just gonna get it before christmas.

My mate who pre-ordered in October was asked to collect his pre-order deposit as they didn't think M$ were gonna produce enough premium bundles to fulfill the pre-orders taken in the UK. He went into game yesterday who are advertising core bundles with games for over £600!!!! they told him they are gonna start taking names again after xmas but reakon that by the time they've fulfilled their pre-order commitment that people on this list are looking at Easter if they're lucky.

To everyone who didn't pre-order best fo luck in getting one but you were warned of the shortage :icon_razz

Completely agree on this one. Microsoft has finally learned what it takes to become a real "hardware" company.
BLUF: You damn well better have more than a million consoles on-hand for a world-wide launch of a over-hyped product.

yeah im not getting my hopes up...got an email from play.com saying if i dont get a dispatch email i wont be gettin my 360 for christmas, and will be delivered after..
but you never know, i might sit in the queue and hundreds can cancel and i end up half way down the list far enough to get me one before end of january..

Thing is, do they release before christmas,sell out, and disappoint some people, or do they wait until after christmas, have plenty of stock, but annoy everyone who wanted one for christmas? The public were never going to back MS's descision either way. Personally I prefer the earlier release....Tomorrow

Everyone who already has a xbox 360 would agree with Giga Phil and me included. If you can get a xbox 360 now why would you want to wait 6 months to get one. Its not like theirs a limit to the # of consoles a company has to have at launch. And you said non of the launch titles interset you, so why do you care if their arent enough xbox 360s. You weren't getting on anyway.

So what your saying that since they didnt get on now they have to wait longer to get one.
But if they released it later they would still have to wait longer to get one.
They dont have to buy one on ebay, since they can always wait untill jan-march to get one.
Do you see the trend here?

And do you understand the fact that people don't want to wait or have to pay large sums of money to get something like this? Microsoft launched with barely 400,000 units in America, quite an absurd amount considering the obvious demand for it.

The only way to get more consoles was the delay the launch that was my point so ppl would have to wait longer. And no one is forcing them to spend 600+ on ebay for a xbox 360. They can still wait for more shippments. So aleast some of the ppl dont have to wait and some do. Instead of everyone having to wait.

wow like two hours left guys, if i knew i had to i would of waited from midnight, dont make my mistake and stand out in lines at six am(if your not 20th or less, you aint gettin one, hands down, cause i was like 50th in the best buy line and they had 54, i saw like 12 people that got vouchers, i was like ok, totaly waste of time)

You aren't making sense. First you say Microsoft should have waited to launch it because not enough people will get theres. But had they waited NO ONE would have gotten theres. Now people can have it and the people that would have waited can wait, and those that didn't can wait.

I think what he's trying to say is, if MS would have taken the time to make more units for the US release, then EVERYONE would've had to wait longer, but in return, more people would've gotten there's on release day, and not as many people would be so pissed off with MS because of the so called "shortage."

Don't put words in my mouth. I obviously mean people are pissed they have to wait while others have theirs, and their only choice is to spend upwards of $1000 to get one.

Like Spark said, and pretty much everyone else that couldn't get one, it was a miserable launch, and it turned a lot of people off to Microsoft. They initially stated several times there would be more units shipping every week, but of course, the people who didn't get a unit at launch, are still without, despite the fact that over a week has passed, unless of course they got desperate and went to ebay or bought a huge bundle. I imagine there won't be anymore units until long after Christmas. Welcome to a modern console launch...

With hype/media attention/holidays there is no way to keep the consoles in stores unless you were shipping out millions of units.

The original Xbox had its shortage, the PS2 was no where to be found after launch, and now the Xbox 360 is no where to be found after launch. If you haven't learned from previous launches you don't deserve a console on day 1.

Would it have been better if they used the 300,000 units available for the UK launch and made it a second shipment for the US? Maybe, great for the US but it would upset a market that Microsoft is trying to win over. And guess what? It wouldn't have mattered much because a day later we would be having the same conversation (no available Xbox's)

The fact is there are now at least 400K happy US owners and 300K happy UK customers. The console also has the same if not more hype than when it launched which means Microsoft will continue to sell out within hours for a long time to come.

Is the situation ideal? Maybe, maybe not.

There is no competition and there will be no competition in these 2 countries for a minimum of 1 year. (Face it the PS3 is a year away for the UK and US, spring '06 is Japan only like all of there other launches)

If I was Microsoft I would rather have 2 countries desperately seeking my consoles and hype continuing to build on a daily basis than only have 1.

I doubt seriously that they turned anyone off from an Xbox 360 with the shortage. These people say one thing and do another. If there were consoles available to them they would run/drive/click as fast as they could to pick it up. There just irritated that getting a console is harder than driving to there local store and handing the cashier a credit card. In the end it doesn't hurt the sales, in fact I'm sure all it's done is increase the hype and attention to its console.

Remember the next great launch is the PS3 which will be no different, shortage, no PS3's on the shelves after launch and words from Sony saying more consoles are on the way. The only difference is Japan will be laughing at us since they would have had there PS3's for well over 6 months while were crying that we can't get our hands on one

Since the only way to get more units is to delay the launch. which make everyone unhappy since no one has one. How is everyone not having one better then some ppl having one. And if you want to pay 800 for an xbox 360. I dont see how thats wrong. Is it worth 800 no but your paying for it. No one is forcing you to buy one.

I would perfer it that way, especially since I pre-ordered mine months ago, and I still don't have it, yet I know arseholes who've walked into a store and picked one up by chance.

This shouldn't be a matter of chance, we either need a complete over-haul of the preordering system, or they should have waited until this console should have been launched in greater numbers.

You should know better than to pre-order your console (or buy anything) at EB Games or Gamespot.

Specialty stores are alway at the bottom on the distrubtion list...
