"Don't think about Fable 2 as an RPG franchise -- think about it as the world of Albion," so said Peter Molyneux at the recent GDC. So does this mean that we might as well not expect it to be an RPG? He did not give a specific picture for that, but it would be safe to surmise that that would be the case.
"There's a niche for Fable as there's humor in there and there's a Britishness and I think we'll keep that side of it. But whether it's more action or RPG or MMO or some new genre--that's what we have to do," he furthered.
What they don't want to happen is to just keep creating the same kinds of game in the franchise, which eventually might result to people getting bored with it.
But apart from Fable, Molyneux also touched on his new game, which, as he hinted before definitely does not sound like it's related to Fable at all. He also said that had it been up to him, he would have showed it off now. But then again, it's not up to him; it's Microsoft's call. Once he gets the go-signal from MS, then development could continue well, and then hopefully, he'll be able to show us something soon.
He kept it cryptic, though, avoiding to let slip anything too obvious in the description of this mystery title. "When you look at it I think you'll say, 'Well, that's just insanely simple. Why has it taken so long?' But what makes it so hard --and this is teasing you horribly--is making it so simple, and yet to have all this unbelievable technology behind the thing."
Sounds intriguing, right? We'll definitely be on the lookout for more details and tidbits on this new title, as well as the latest installment in the Fable franchise.
