EA responds to Left 4 Dead 2 banning in Australia
Valve's Left 4 Dead 2 (Xbox 360, PC) is just the latest casualty of the Australian Office of Film and Literature Classification's stringent -- and, for most Australian gamers, draconic -- adherence to their ratings guidelines.
Publisher EA Australia said last week that they're "still working through the submission process with OFLC." It seems they've since become much more candid about the issue, however, as they've finally issued a comment. Here's what EA spokesperson Tiffany Steckler said:
It s funny that a place like Australia, which has come up with some pretty violent material in the past with something like Mad Max, can effectively ban video games for the same reason. EA believes that adults should have the right to make their own choices when it comes to the content they consume.
So far, neither Valve nor EA have confirmed whether or not changes will be made to the game to get it past the OFLC.
