Smile AFKIM: Instant Messenger for PSP v3.3.5

    Hi all,

Here is a new release of AFKIM (Away From the Keyboard Instant Messenger), the instant messaging application for PSP written by Danzel !
    (see http://localhost.geek.nz/)

This version fix graphical glitches under xfw 4.01-m33 on PSP SLIM
(If you have cfw < 4.01 or a PSP FAT, then no need to install this new version).

You can find it here : http://zx81.zx81.free.fr/

    Enjoy,

    Zx.

The fix does not work for me. It asks me to choose the connection, and after I do so the screen gets filled with messed-up letters.

    Spoiler for Screenshot:

I replaced my old version, v3.3.3 with this one, could that be the reason? I didn't want to lose my accounts and settings. :/

You just have to copy the bitlbee config file in the new folder (do a backup of the afkim folder before ;) ).

btw this fix works for me, but it seems that one still encountered graphical glitches with this version ... It's a bug that appears in the SDL library with alpha blending stuff ... work still remain to fix it definitively,

I re-downloaded the files, unzipped the AFKIM folder at my desktop, copied my bitlbee.cfg inside it and put it on my PSP. I still get messed up letters

I'm using a PSP Slim 4.01 M33-2 without any custom themes etc.

Anyway, I'll still be able to use AFKIM with Time Machine and 3.60 M33, but of course it is more hassle to launch it.

I keep getting the "timeout while resolving" problem.

    I am using a psp slim running 4.01 M33-2.

Any ideas on how to fix this problem because I would really like to use the program.

    Thanks

Goto the XMB, and try loading google. If it loads then there is a problem loading the homebrew most likely due to a wpa encrypted wifi router.

Was it working with 3.90-m33 ? many of you encountered name resolution issue, and i can't fix it because i just can't reproduce that bug with my router ...

Only version 3.3.4 and earlier will work with the new bitlbee server (that might explain your "identifying" connection issue).

Can you try this new version i've bundled for you :
    http://zx81.zx81.free.fr/public/psp/...3.5-3-fw4x.zip

In the afkim.cfg file you can specify a timeout value that would be used in several part of the afkim code (mainly in polling loop). The default value is 1000, but you can try several values between 100 and 10000 and see what is the one that work for you.

Please report me if it works or not, and with which timeout value, i will then package a new official version and explain how to proceed etc ... Thanks.
The more you fail, the more you have a chance that it will work in the end.

In latest program above you have to try several different values for the timeout parameter (you have to edit the file afkim.cfg using wordpad or any other ascii text editor). Try with several values such as 1500, 2000, 3000 ...
The more you fail, the more you have a chance that it will work in the end.

    2500 timeout
    3000 stuck on identifying
    3500 stuck on identifying
    4000 timeout
    4500 stuck on identifying
    5000 stuck on identifying
    5500 stuck on identifying
    6000 stuck on identifying
    6500 stuck on identifying
    7000 stuck on identifying
    7500 timeout
    8000 timeout

Ok so let's keep 2000 in the afkim.cfg since it works for the name resolution. About the identifying that failed, it is as if your router prevent output connection to bitlbee server ?

you can connect to bitlbee using any irc software and then delete your account manually ...

And if you try with this version :
    http://zx81.zx81.free.fr/public/psp/...3.3.6-fw4x.zip

If you still have any name resolution error, you can modify the afkim.cfg file and modify the timeout_dns parameter. If it works for you, can you please give me your feedback ? I plan to release this version soon to fix name resolution issue ...
