    Smile AFKIM: Instant Messenger for PSP v3.3.7

    Hi all,

    Here is a new release of AFKIM (Away From the Keyboard Instant Messenger), the instant messaging application for PSP written by Danzel !
    (see http://localhost.geek.nz/)

    The server im.bitlbee.org is down and it doesn't appear even in DNS. Unfortunately it is the default Bitlbee server used by afkim and there is no way to create a new account using afkim in any other Bitlbee server.
    (You have to do it by yourself using any IRC client).

    In this new version of afkim you can specify in afkim.cfg file the public Bitlbee server / port you want to connect to. The afkim.cfg file try now to connect you to im.codemonkey.be when using a new account (you have to rename or remove the bitlbee.cfg file first).

    Special thanks to BLacKyyy* for his feedback on im.bitlbee.org server issue.

    Zx.
    The more you fail, the more you have a chance that it will work in the end.

    Bitlbee seems so problematic; always making you have to update AFKIM. Are there any viable replacements?

    afaik there is no replacements ... the issue today was only due to the main server shutdown, but many other public servers are still working and are full compatible with afkim. Since im.bitlbee.org was hard coded in afkim there were no way to escape and to try to connect to another server. It's now working fine (up to next server changes ... )

    im.bitlbee.org is up again so you can modifiy your afkim.cfg and bitlbee.cfg files and use that server again ....

    I am having problems with this version. I updated to CFW 5.00 m33 and after the splash screen the programs show a black screen and resturns to the xmb. Also tried version 3.3.6 and also CFW 5.00 m33-2.

    Update: seems to be working fine again on 5.00 m33-3

    You should add FreeType2 support in next version, like in PSPKVM.

    Hello. I found one bug... same bug is in the links2.
    I mean 'failed to resolve' ['host not found' in links2] and then PSP crash. That happens when you're using static IP. When you're using DHCP server there is no problem with connection, but when you need to write IPs by youreself app won't connect. Is it possible to fix that bug in next version?

    Neme.

    Adding a click when you send a message would be handy, but more importantly, I'd love it if you added a chime sound when you receive a new message.

    AFKIM is one of my favorite homebrew applications, and definitely one of my most used.

    Angry AFKIM: Resolving im.codemonkey.be, failed to resolve

    I put the afkim folder from the "fw4x" folder into my "GAME5xx" folder, on my silver psp slim 2000, on fw 5.00 m33-6. I boot it up, it works, it asks me to choose a router to connect to, it says connection state 2, 4 (sumin like that), and works. It says it can't detect a bitlbee account so asks me 2 make 1, i type it in, enter. It then says "Resolving im.codemonkey.be" 2 secs later it says "failed to resolve"; freezes and then shuts off. I have no idea what I did wrong, I delete the bitlbee.cfg file, and the example_bitlbee.cfg thing, and it asks me to make another account and just creates it again, I assume that the ports or server it is set to connect to is inncorrect, but I have no idea what to put.:Argh: Here is my afkim.cfg file:

    danzeff

    # specify timeout value used in name resolution
    # valid range is 100 - 1000
    timeout_dns=500
    # specify timeout value used in irc network polling stuff
    # valid range is 1 - 100
    timeout_irc=2

    # IM bitlbee server name
    bitlbee_name=im.codemonke y.be
    # IM bitlbee server port
    bitlbee_port=6667

    I would not know what is wrong there, and I don't think its an issue of the server being down bcos when I tried an earlier version a year agoish it said the same thing.:Argh:

    Can you please help???????:Cry:

    Try using another server :
    bitlbee_name=im.bitlbee.o rg

    If it still fail to resolve the name then you can modify the timenout_dns :
    timeout_dns=1000
    The more you fail, the more you have a chance that it will work in the end.

    I did those things and it made NO difference:Argh:.

    The afkim.cfg now looks like this:

    danzeff

    # specify timeout value used in name resolution
    # valid range is 100 - 1000
    timeout_dns=1000
    # specify timeout value used in irc network polling stuff
    # valid range is 1 - 100
    timeout_irc=2

    # IM bitlbee server name
    bitlbee_name=(I'm not allowed to post links)
    # IM bitlbee server port
    bitlbee_port=6667

    I deleted the bitlbee.cfg document so it didnt try to login in with the account I tried to use on codemonkey.be, I DON't know why it wont work:Argh:.

    I'm just making an observation but shouldn't I change the port number aswell?

    You may try using : http://zx81.zx81.free.fr/public/psp/...uild2-fw5x.zip

    And may be try using dynamic IP (DHCP) ?

    Hey Zx-81 awesome Homebrew man I use it all the time, especially when my parents take my laptop away or when it doesn't work, mostly when they take it away lmao xD What Shadowriffe said about the chime sound when we receive a new message would be nice definately.
    Anyways, I wanted to mention that the white BG also started being dull for me so I made a Skin mod for it, the Skin mod is not the greatest but I like it, so I was wondering if it would be alright to post it up. Figured I would ask you first before I did, if you'd like to have a look at it before you do give me a PM or something and I'll be more than glad to show you.

    The more you fail, the more you have a chance that it will work in the end.

    Sorry to bump this thread but im experiencing some difficulties with this program

    Last night it was working perfectly fine untill i was a bit messing around with the settings of the program In the chat.

    I had putted the root name to a diff name or so O.o
    Well i closed the homebrew , restarted it and it gets stuck at "identifying" while connecting O.o
    So i closed the homebrew and redownloaded it and tried it over but i still get it .
    Ive tried other versions but its still a no no

    Can you help me?
    Im using cfw 5.50 Gen btw
    Ive also tried a diff name server but a still no no
